Who Can Qualify for This BC PNP Initiative?
The Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative is not a general pathway for every healthcare worker. It is specifically designed for current health-authority employees working in an eligible cleaning or security occupation.
According to the official BC PNP Skills Immigration Program Guide, applicants must satisfy the program’s general requirements and obtain the support of their health authority employer.
Eligible occupations
- NOC 64410 — Security guards and related security service occupations;
- NOC 65310 — Light duty cleaners; and
- NOC 65312 — Janitors, caretakers and heavy-duty cleaners.
The applicant must be a direct employee of an eligible public health authority. Workers employed by contractors that provide services to a health authority are not eligible under this initiative.
Employment and Job Offer Requirements
An eligible candidate must have a regular, indeterminate and full-time job offer from a British Columbia public health authority. The health authority must provide a signed job-offer letter and agree to support the BC PNP application.
The candidate must generally have worked full-time and year-round for the same health authority for at least nine consecutive months immediately before registering.
Employment obtained as part of a study program, including co-op employment, or while the candidate held a study permit does not count toward the nine-month qualifying period.
The applicant must continue working full-time in the same eligible occupation for the supporting health authority throughout the BC PNP application process.
Rural or Remote Work Location Requirement
The applicant’s principal work location must be in an eligible rural or remote part of British Columbia and must be connected to the same health authority that supports the application.
