Newfoundland and Labrador Invites 208 Immigration Candidates
Newfoundland and Labrador issued 208 invitations to apply for provincial immigration on August 10, 2026.
The province selected 186 candidates through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and 22 through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). This was the province’s tenth invitation round of 2026.
No minimum Expression of Interest score or individual NLPNP stream breakdown was published for this round.
August 10 invitation results

Approximately 89% of the invitations went to NLPNP candidates, while the remaining invitations were issued through the AIP.
These are provincial invitations to submit a complete application. They are not provincial nominations, endorsements or federal invitations to apply for permanent residence.

The number of invitations can vary substantially between rounds. A larger or smaller previous draw does not indicate how many candidates the province will invite next.
How the Expression of Interest system works
Newfoundland and Labrador introduced an Expression of Interest, or EOI, model for its economic immigration programs in February 2025.
The process generally involves four stages:
- A prospective candidate submits an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator portal.
- The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews profiles against provincial priorities.
- Selected candidates receive an invitation to submit a complete NLPNP or AIP application.
- Approved applicants may receive a provincial nomination under the NLPNP or an endorsement under the AIP before proceeding to the federal permanent residence stage.
An EOI is not a complete immigration application. The province’s official guidance says that formal documents are generally not uploaded with the initial EOI, but supporting evidence will be required if the candidate is invited.
EOIs remain valid for 12 months. A profile that is not selected remains in the pool until it receives an invitation or expires.
Which profiles may receive priority?
The province does not use one published factor as an automatic guarantee of selection. Its EOI prioritization criteria are non-exhaustive and may be adjusted as labour-market needs and annual immigration allocations change.
Factors that may support prioritization include:
- Employment in health or health-related occupations
- Sales and service positions addressing rural labour needs
- Employment in rural or regional communities
- Occupations underrepresented in the province, including certain business, finance, science, research, trades and transport roles
- An employer with a strong compliance and worker-retention record
- Evidence that the candidate is likely to remain in Newfoundland and Labrador
- Graduation from a Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institution
- Alignment with the province’s Francophone immigration objectives
- Strong employer or community settlement supports
Meeting one or several priorities does not guarantee an invitation.
The province did not disclose which priorities or occupations produced the August 10 invitations. Candidates should therefore avoid assuming that the draw targeted a particular occupation, NOC code or minimum score.
Job-offer requirements
Economic immigration candidates using Newfoundland and Labrador’s EOI process generally need a job or job offer from an employer in the province.
For the Atlantic Immigration Program, the offer must come from an employer designated by the provincial government. IRCC confirms that the Atlantic Immigration Program is available to eligible skilled foreign workers and international graduates who want to work and live in an Atlantic province.
Some applicants also require an employer invitation code before submitting an EOI:
- AIP candidates require an employer invitation code.
- An NLPNP candidate who requires a Job Vacancy Assessment space also requires a code.
- Certain NLPNP candidates already authorized to work for their employer may not need one.
An EOI submitted without a required employer code may be considered invalid and may not be reviewed during a selection round.
What invited candidates must do
A candidate who receives an invitation has 60 days to submit the complete application. Newfoundland and Labrador states that it does not grant extensions to this invitation period.
For the NLPNP, the invited candidate can begin the provincial application through the Immigration Accelerator. Under the AIP, the designated employer uses the invitation to proceed with the candidate’s endorsement application.
Before submitting, invited candidates should:
- Confirm whether the invitation relates to the NLPNP or AIP
- Review the current requirements for the applicable category
- Verify that their employment, education, language and family information remains accurate
- Obtain all required employer documentation
- Ensure that the job offer and employer remain eligible
- Gather evidence supporting every statement made in the EOI
- Check passport and immigration-status expiry dates
- Submit well before the 60-day deadline
- Save copies of the application and supporting documents
Receiving an invitation only means the province is prepared to review a complete application. Approval is not guaranteed.
Provincial approval is not permanent residence
An approved NLPNP candidate receives a provincial nomination. An approved AIP case receives a provincial endorsement. The applicant must then complete the applicable permanent residence process with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
IRCC is responsible for the final assessment of admissibility and permanent residence eligibility.

Candidates remaining in the EOI pool should:
- Confirm that the EOI is still valid and accurately reflects their current circumstances.
- Update their provincial or federal profile when required after a material change.
- Verify that their employer and job offer satisfy the applicable program rules.
- Avoid submitting duplicate EOIs, which the province may flag.
- Review the current provincial prioritization criteria without treating them as guaranteed selection rules.
- Monitor the Immigration Accelerator account and the email address connected to the profile.
- Prepare documents in advance so a complete application can be submitted within 60 days if invited.
- Consider other suitable pathways rather than relying on one provincial draw.
